Cristiano Ronaldo aims fresh dig at Man Utd and Erik ten Hag as he speaks out about his future

Ronaldo Fires Fresh Dig at Manchester United and Erik Ten Hag Amid Retirement Speculation

Cristiano Ronaldo has seemingly aimed another barbed remark at Manchester United and Erik ten Hag, casting doubt on his potential future with the Red Devils.

The 39-year-old superstar is currently playing for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, where he’s been enjoying a rejuvenated career. After his tumultuous exit from United in January 2023, Ronaldo has consistently courted controversy, fueling speculation about his long-term future in the sport.

When asked about his intentions, Ronaldo hinted that he’ll continue playing football for at least two to three years, but it appears his mind is elsewhere. "In my mind, I’ll always be a starter," he told Portuguese publication A Bola. "Until the end of my career, I’ll always think that I’ll be a starter."

When asked about his thoughts on potential retirement, Ronaldo went off-script, targeting Manchester United and ten Hag specifically. "I’ll always respect the decisions, not just of the coach, but at the clubs I’ve played for. I’ve always respected them – once or twice, they’ve also behaved badly towards me!"

Ronaldo’s thinly veiled dig is the latest in a series of public spats, following his acrimonious exit from United. Many believe his comments are aimed at ten Hag, who reportedly clashed with the star player during his final season at Old Trafford.

This is not the first time Ronaldo has spoken out about his disappointment with United. Last year, he claimed that his desire to leave the club was due to the "betrayal" and "lies" surrounding his transfer saga.

With United reportedly keen to move on from the Ronaldo era, the Portuguese legend’s recent comments have sparked further debate about his future. As speculation mounts, it remains to be seen whether Ronaldo will continue to ply his trade in the topflight or hang up his boots.
