Chelsea strip two players of shirt numbers in latest brutal move

Chelsea’s Brutal Move: Two Players Strip-Mined of Shirt Numbers

August 21, 2024 – With the transfer window still open, Chelsea has made a shocking decision, stripping two players of their iconic shirt numbers to make way for new signings.

It’s no secret that the Blues have an abundance of talent, with around 15-20 players training separately from the first team. In a bid to clear up space and give regular game-time, Chelsea has told several players to find a new club, including Raheem Sterling, Trevoh Chalobah, Ben Chilwell, and Romelu Lukaku.

According to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, both Sterling and Chalobah have lost their shirt numbers, with Sterling’s No. 7 being handed to £54 million signing Pedro Neto. Neto made his debut with the No. 19 against Manchester City, taking Sterling’s spot.

Chalobah, who was wearing No. 14, has been out of favor and has had his number allocated to Joao Felix, who has signed a seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge. The Portugal international wore No. 11 in his first spell on loan in 2023.

The number changes are not only visible on the club’s website but also on the megastore’s official website, allowing fans to purchase new shirts with the updated numbers. Fans who have already bought a No. 19 Neto jersey can exchange it for free.

This move has raised eyebrows, with fans wondering who’s next on the chopping block. Will Chelsea continue to shake things up, or will they stick to the status quo? Only time will tell.
