Chelsea attempted the craziest swap deal of the summer transfer window with Everton

Chelsea’s Late Transfer Window Drama: The Blues Make a Bold Swap Deal Proposal to Everton

It’s crunch time in the transfer window, and Chelsea are pulling out all the stops to strengthen their squad. In a shocking move, the Blues have reportedly made a swap deal proposal to Everton, hoping to land Dominic Calvert-Lewin. But will the Toffees bite?

The Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, who was a top target for Chelsea, has reportedly agreed to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli. According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Osimhen will sign a three-year contract worth around £33 million a year, with Napoli standing to earn around €80 million (£67.3m) plus add-ons.

With Osimhen off the table, Chelsea’s sights are now set on Calvert-Lewin. The 27-year-old has spent eight years at Goodison Park and has long been linked with a big move away. Chelsea value Calvert-Lewin at around £10 million rising to £12.5 million, similar to the sum Liverpool splashed for Federico Chiesa, who was also in the final year of his contract.

In a proposed swap deal, Chelsea would send David Datro Fofana, who joined the club from Norwegian side Molde in January 2023 for a fee between £8-10 million, to Everton. However, according to The Times, Everton were not interested in making the deal happen, with the values placed on each player being "too far apart".

Calvert-Lewin has spent eight years at Goodison Park and has long been linked with a big move away. He appeared in 32 league games last season and was directly involved in nine goals. Rumours over his future have been rife, but as it stands, he will stay at Goodison Park.

The clock is ticking, and Chelsea need to act fast if they want to land Calvert-Lewin. Will they make a late push to sign the Everton striker? Only time will tell.
