Casemiro’s Wife Shares Social Media Post That Has Everyone Talking After Man Utd’s Shock Defeat to Liverpool
Manchester United’s hopes of challenging for the top spots in the Premier League suffered a major blow at Old Trafford on Sunday as Liverpool ran out 3-0 winners. It was a dismal performance from Erik ten Hag’s team, and one player in particular who struggled was midfielder Casemiro.
Casemiro, who has failed to live up to his billing since joining Man United from Real Madrid for a reported £70m fee in 2022, was at fault for Liverpool’s first two goals as he lost possession in key areas to allow Jürgen Klopp’s team to surge forward and score.
The 32-year-old was eventually substituted at half-time, replacing 20-year-old youngster Toby Collyer as Arne Slot’s men chased the game. Meanwhile, summer signing Manuel Ugarte is expected to compete for Casemiro’s position in the starting line-up once he is up to speed.
Casemiro’s wife, Anna Mariana Casemiro, took to Instagram following the match to remind Manchester United fans of her husband’s impressive trophy haul at Real Madrid. She posted a photo of Casemiro’s stacked trophy cabinet, which includes five replica Champions League trophies, and 32 Champions League titles in the last eight seasons before he left the club. He also won three La Liga titles and one Copa del Rey during his stint in Spain.
Anna Casemiro’s post elicited a range of comments from Manchester United fans. "We know Casemiro is very experienced and has won it all, and that’s the reason we demand top quality football from him," wrote one supporter. Another added: "You can’t argue with his achievements… but you also can’t argue that sadly time catches everyone up and Casemiro is in a decline. It’s sad, but it’s life."
Time and again, Casemiro has been unable to recreate the form that led Real Madrid to so many championships. His decline was once again evident against Liverpool as he struggled to stamp his authority on the midfield and make an impact.
Can Casemiro’s current form be turned around, or is it now a case of trying to patch up the damage he’s done? One thing’s for sure, it’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for both Casemiro and Manchester United.
