Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is set to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr before the end of the January transfer window. according to telegraph,
Al-Ittihad was eager to sign The Red Devils star failed to secure a deal last summer, and while he moved on, Al-Nassr want the 32-year-old, with Cristiano Ronaldo interested in reuniting with his former Real Madrid teammate.
Casemiro is not included in Man United head coach Ruben Amorim’s starting XI plans, missing six of the 12 games the Portuguese has overseen since taking over in November 2024.
The Red Devils boss prefers Manuel Ugarte and Coby Manu as his first-choice pairing in the middle of the park, which would leave the Brazilian legend with no option but to leave.
Despite impressing in his debut campaign he has struggled to keep up with the pace and physicality of the Premier League, and a departure in January may suit both the club and the player.
Casemiro cost Man United £60million in 2022, but recouping half of that fee from Al-Nassr may prove difficult as his valuation has fallen in recent months.
The Old Trafford club will look to sign a replacement if he leaves, and taking his £350,000-a-week wages off the bill would be a smart move.
He still has a contract that runs until 2026 with the option of a further 12 months, and an exit would help them balance the books and free up space for other signings.
If Man United are serious about challenging for major silverware anytime soon, they need to re-shape their current squad, and acquiring Casemiro would be a good place to start.
Marcus Rashford and Antony could also leave this month, while the likes of Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen and Jonny Evans are expected to move on at the end of the campaign.
