Euro 2024 Golden Boot: UEFA Reveals Plan for a Possible Tie
The excitement around the Euro 2024 Golden Boot just got a whole lot more thrilling! With six players tied on three goals ahead of the final between England and Spain, UEFA has announced that they will share the award if no player scores more than three goals in the remainder of the tournament.
This move marks a significant change from the previous Euro 2020, where Cristiano Ronaldo was crowned the winner despite being level with Czechia’s Patrik Schick on five goals. The reason for the difference? Ronaldo had registered one assist alongside his five goals, whereas Schick didn’t have any assists.

The six players currently tied on three goals are England captain Harry Kane, Spain forward Dani Olmo, Netherlands’ Cody Gakpo, Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze, Germany’s Jamal Musiala, and Slovakia’s Ivan Schranz. With Kane and Olmo both in good form, they are likely to break free from the pack and take their goal tallies to at least four by the end of the tournament.
But what happens if nobody scores more than three goals on Sunday? Well, according to UEFA, the Golden Boot will be shared. This would be the lowest tally for a Golden Boot winner since Euro 2012, when Fernando Torres, Mario Gomez, and Alan Dzagoev all finished with three goals.
