Barcelona Eye Liverpool and Arsenal Targets as Nico Williams Alternative

Barcelona have drawn up a shortlist of three players to replace Nico Williams, with Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Arsenal target Kingsley Coman leading the charge. The Catalan giants’ financial struggles have put a spanner in the works of their original plans to sign the Athletic Club winger, but they’re refusing to give up on landing a new star signing.
First up is Luis Diaz, who has struggled to find his footing at Liverpool since joining from Porto in January 2022. The Colombian winger has shown glimpses of his brilliance, but his overall form has been patchy. With a reported initial fee of £37m, Diaz could be a more affordable option for Barcelona than some of their other targets.
Next in line is Kingsley Coman, who is seemingly out of favour at Bayern Munich under new coach Vincent Kompany. The French winger has won everything in the game, but with three years remaining on his contract, Bayern may be willing to offload him. Arsenal have been linked with Coman in recent days, but Barcelona could also make a move if they can secure a loan deal.
Last but not least, Barcelona are eyeing AC Milan star Rafael Leao. The Portuguese winger signed a new contract with the Rossoneri last summer, tying him down until 2028. While Leao may not be available immediately, Barcelona could make a move in the future if their current targets don’t pan out.
Despite the setbacks, Barcelona are still keen to bolster their squad before the transfer window slams shut. They need a new winger to support Hansi Flick’s attacking plans, and these three targets could be the solution to their problems.
