Arsenal ‘set to open talks’ for stunning £60m striker transfer that could complete Mikel Arteta’s squad

Arsenal Set to Reignite £60m Talks for Prolific Striker Viktor Gyokeres

Mikel Arteta’s men are eager to bring in a new attacking force this summer, and a huge transfer deal could be the key to finally bridging the gap to Manchester City.

After falling short of the Premier League title in both 2022-23 and 2023-24, Arsenal are planning to bolster their squad to challenge for the championship. According to the Daily Briefing, the north London outfit are keen to re-ignite talks with Sporting CP over their talented striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Sweden international was heavily linked to the Gunners during the second half of last season, and a fresh bid could be imminent. Arsenal are reportedly prepared to offer a hefty £55-60m to sign the 26-year-old, although Sporting are likely to play hard ball and demand his £86m release clause be met.

Gyokeres was an absolute prolific goal-scorer last season, netting an incredible 43 goals in 50 games for the Portuguese outfit. It’s little surprise, then, that Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are also keeping tabs on the talented frontman.

Arsenal’s current striking options, comprising of Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and Eddie Nketiah, don’t exactly scream ‘title-winning contingent’. Havertz impressed when given the freedom to roam up front, but he’s not an out-and-out striker, while Jesus struggled to make an impact at the Emirates last term.

With the exit of Nketiah reportedly looming, Arteta will know that signing a clinical goalscorer like Gyokeres could be the missing piece in Arsenal’s title puzzle.
