Arsenal Fans Left Fuming Over Man City Star’s No-Call for Delaying Restart

The first half of Arsenal vs Manchester City has been a wild ride, with three goals, a major injury to Rodri, and a red card for Leandro Trossard. But fans are still fuming about an incident that they believe should have resulted in a booking for a Man City player.
Trossard was sent off for delaying the restart after committing a foul, a tactic commonly used by both teams. However, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to point out that Man City winger Jeremy Doku did the exact same thing in the first half, but escaped a yellow card.
AFCNewsroom, an official Arsenal fan account, shared a video of Doku kicking the ball away in the first half, deliberately delaying the restart. They captioned the post, “Jeremy Doku kicks the ball away stopping a quick restart without receiving a yellow card.”
Fans are up in arms, feeling that the inconsistency in refereeing is a major issue. One fan tweeted, “Just don’t get how you can be so eager to fling the second yellow out but didn’t book Doku for the same thing 30 minutes prior to it. No one’s arsed about the rules, it’s the inconsistency the rules are being carried out with.”
However, others have pointed out that Doku’s actions may not be as clear-cut as some fans are making it out to be. Michael Oliver, the referee, does appear to point backwards when the issue is discussed at half-time, suggesting that Doku may have simply kicked the ball to the correct spot.
But ex-Arsenal winger Paul Merson disagrees, saying, “You’ve got to use a bit of common sense here or you’d just be sending people off left right and centre.” He believes that Doku deliberately kicked the ball past Declan Rice, delaying the restart.
While the debate rages on, one thing is certain – the inconsistency in refereeing is a major concern for fans. It’s a topic that will undoubtedly be discussed for weeks to come.
