Arsenal fans accuse Man City of double standards after seeing what happened during their game vs Fulham

Arsenal Fans Slam Manchester City for Double Standards After Fulham Win

Manchester City’s 3-2 victory over Fulham at the Etihad Stadium has sparked controversy among Arsenal fans, who are accusing the Citizens of double standards.

The win saw City remain undefeated in the Premier League, but it was a hard-fought victory that required them to earn it. Andreas Pereira gave Fulham an early lead, before Mateo Kovacic levelled the scores before half-time. Kovacic then scored his second on 47 minutes, before Jeremy Doku made it 3-1 late on. Rodrigo Muniz scored a consolation goal for Fulham, but it was too little, too late.

However, it was the events in injury time that really caught Arsenal fans’ attention. City received three yellow cards, with Pep Guardiola, Ederson, and Bernardo Silva all picking up bookings for time wasting. This has led to accusations of hypocrisy from Arsenal fans, who point out that City were quick to criticize Arsenal for their own time-wasting tactics in their previous meeting.

"Only one team came to play football. The other came to play to the limits of what was possible to do and allowed by the referee, unfortunately," Bernardo Silva said after the match. But Arsenal fans are now pointing out that City are guilty of the same thing.

One fan tweeted: "We going to talk about the ‘dark arts’ again this week with Man City getting three yellow cards for time wasting 11vs11 at home to Fulham?" Another added: "The irony of Bernardo Silva being one of the recipients."

The issue of time wasting is a contentious one in football, and it’s not the first time that City have been accused of it. In fact, Guardiola has been known to prioritize winning at all costs, even if it means bending the rules.

But for Arsenal fans, the hypocrisy is what really stings. They point out that City are quick to criticize others for their tactics, but are just as guilty themselves.

"Apparently people are only surprised and disgusted when Arsenal does it. But it’s a completely normal thing when others do it," one fan wrote.

City and Arsenal currently sit second and third in the Premier League table, with both having picked up 17 points from their seven matches this season. Liverpool are ahead of them both on 18 points from their seven matches.
