Postecoglou Shuts Down England Job Rumors: "I’m Fully Focused on Tottenham"
Ange Postecoglou has made it clear that he’s not interested in taking over as England manager following Gareth Southgate’s resignation. The Tottenham boss has been linked with the job, but he’s adamant that his focus is solely on bringing success to Spurs.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Postecoglou was asked about the rumors linking him with the England post. "I’m in the middle of the start of pre-season," he said. "I’m the Tottenham manager, and I’ve got nothing else but trying to bring success to this football club. Until I do that, there’s no point in me thinking about anything else."
Postecoglou, 58, has a wealth of international experience, having managed Australia from 2018 to 2022. During his tenure, he secured World Cup qualification and won the Asia Cup. "I enjoyed my time [as Australia boss]," he said. "We won the Asia Cup, qualified for the World Cup. But with all these things, there’s always a natural end, and I thought there was a natural end for me there. I loved coaching the national team."
While Postecoglou may not be interested in the England job, he left the door open for a potential return to international management in the future. "Maybe in the future [I will return to international management], who knows? Five years ago I was in Japan and now I’m in the Premier League, so…"
It’s clear that Postecoglou is fully committed to his role at Tottenham, and he’s not letting rumors distract him from his goal of bringing success to the club. As he said, "I’ve got nothing else but trying to bring success to this football club."
