Postecoglou Unleashes Fury on Bissouma: "He’s Made a Poor Decision"
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has finally broken his silence on the controversy surrounding midfielder Yves Bissouma, who was caught on video inhaling nitrous oxide. The Australian tactician has slammed the Mali international, stating that he’s "made a poor decision" and has been suspended for the Premier League opener against Leicester on Monday.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many questioning the midfielder’s judgment and responsibility as a role model. Possession of nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, has been a criminal offence since last year, when the former Conservative government graded it as a Class C drug controlled under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
Bissouma, who later apologized for his actions, stated that he understands the severity of the situation and the health risks involved. However, Postecoglou has made it clear that the midfielder’s poor decision-making won’t be tolerated, and he’ll need to work hard to regain the trust of his teammates and the manager.
"We’ve suspended him from Monday’s game," Postecoglou said. "He needs to build that trust back with both me and the group. The door is open for him, and we can help him realize the decisions he makes impact the group."
This isn’t the first time Bissouma has been in trouble off the pitch. In 2021, he was involved in a car accident in France, which led to a suspension from international duty. His latest antics have sparked concerns about his ability to maintain a professional lifestyle, both on and off the pitch.
As the Premier League season gets underway, Tottenham fans will be eager to see how Bissouma responds to this setback. Will he be able to bounce back and prove himself as a valuable member of the team, or will this incident mark the beginning of the end of his Spurs career?
