Real Madrid: Mbappé’s Fresher, More Active Display Earns Praise from Ancelotti
In a 2-0 win over Real Sociedad, Kylian Mbappé stole the show with his impressive performance, leaving Carlo Ancelotti beaming with pride. The French forward’s ability to combine with Vinícius Júnior and the other forwards made him a constant threat, and Ancelotti praised his "fresher, more active" display.
Mbappé scored the second penalty of the game in the 75th minute, converting a spot-kick after Vinícius was fouled. The goal took his tally to three in five LaLiga games this season, and he’s now showing signs of adapting to his new surroundings. "Every game I’m feeling better, I’m understanding what the team, the manager and my teammates need," Mbappé said in an interview with Real Madrid TV.
Vinícius Júnior opened the scoring with a penalty in the 58th minute, after Sergio Gómez’s handball. Mbappé and Vinícius have now taken turns taking penalties, with both players scoring twice from the spot this campaign. "They take the responsibility, and so far it has gone well," Ancelotti said.
Ancelotti also praised the chemistry between Mbappé and Vinícius, stating that they’re "working together better all the time." The pair’s partnership has been a key factor in Real Madrid’s success, and with them leading the line, the team looks formidable. "With them we have a lot of danger up front. They’ll score a lot of goals," goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois added.
The win over Real Sociedad means Madrid have 11 points from five LaLiga games, with three wins and two draws. Ancelotti acknowledged that the team isn’t at 100% yet, but individual players are improving rapidly. "We can talk about all the problems in this game but we’re happy. When you’re missing four midfielders, it’s hard to find balance," he said.
Real Madrid’s squad has been hit by injuries, with Jude Bellingham, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Dani Ceballos all missing the game. Despite these setbacks, Ancelotti was pleased with the team’s resilience and ability to hold on for the win. "It was a difficult game, we probably didn’t deserve to win. Real Sociedad played very well. We suffered, and we held on. I value that a lot."
