Football fans face being BANNED from attending games after warning sent about counterfeit shirts

Sheffield Wednesday Send Out Stern Warning to Fans Wearing Counterfeit Shirts

The new English Football League season is just around the corner, and fans are gearing up for nine months of thrilling action. But, as clubs launch their new kits, some supporters are opting for counterfeit shirts to save a few bucks. However, Sheffield Wednesday has sent out a stern warning to fans who plan to wear fake shirts to their games.

According to a statement from the club, fans who are caught wearing counterfeit shirts inside Hillsborough Stadium could be asked to leave. The club is taking a tough stance on the issue, urging fans to purchase official merchandise from the Owls Megastore or online store.

The statement read: "We respectfully remind supporters that as well as being inferior in terms of quality and potentially unsafe due to materials used, counterfeit shirts and their sales impact directly on club revenues. Official SWFC merchandise can be purchased only from the Owls Megastore or online store."

The club’s brand protection teams are working with authorities to remove counterfeit selling websites and will continue to do so. Offline, they will also be diligent in making every effort to close down the illegal trade of counterfeit goods.

In fact, the club has already taken steps to decline requests for lettering and numbering on any counterfeit shirts brought into the Megastore. While they can’t prevent fans from wearing counterfeit shirts away from Hillsborough, they are respectfully requesting that such products are not displayed inside the stadium.

The prices for Sheffield Wednesday’s home and away kits range from £66 to £77 depending on sleeve length. It’s clear that the club is serious about protecting its brand and revenue.

As the new season kicks off, it’s essential for fans to prioritize authenticity and support their club by purchasing official merchandise. By doing so, fans can help ensure that their club continues to thrive and provide them with the best possible experience.
