Tottenham’s Transfer Strategy Left in the Shadows as West Ham Steal a March
It’s been a summer to forget for Tottenham Hotspur so far, with their top-flight rivals West Ham United stealing the headlines with some stunning transfer business. While Spurs slumbered, the Hammers have pulled off a series of shrewd signings that will undoubtedly push them further up the Premier League standings next season.
Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham need a serious injection of quality, and it’s hard to blame Daniel Levy for not splurging on a few choice signings. However, West Ham have taken a different approach, opting for a mix of experienced pros and youth prospects to bolster their squad.
It’s hard to argue with West Ham’s transfer strategy, which has seen them land the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, and Guido Rodriguez. These signings will certainly strengthen their squad and make them a force to be reckoned with.
Interestingly, one player who was rumored to be bound for Tottenham – Juventus’ Federico Chiesa – could now be heading to the London Stadium instead. Chiesa’s agent has hinted that the Italian winger might be on the move, and West Ham’s interest in him could spark a bidding war.
While Tottenham need to step up their transfer game, there’s no denying that West Ham are building something special. With Julen Lopetegui at the helm and a strong squad to choose from, they’re looking like top-six contenders next season. What does this mean for Spurs? Should they be worried about being left in the shadows?
