Manchester United’s Unwanted Player: Casemiro’s Struggle to Find a New Home
Manchester United have had a busy summer transfer window, bolstering their squad with the signings of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee. However, despite their efforts to strengthen their team, they’re still struggling to offload one player – Casemiro.
According to a report by The Telegraph, Manchester United were hoping to sell the 32-year-old midfielder to fund a new signing. However, so far, there have been no takers for the Brazilian international.
Casemiro’s struggles are no secret. He received criticism from fans and pundits alike for his performances last season, and his lack of impact in the FA Cup final led to him being dropped. Despite his importance to the team, Casemiro’s form has been patchy, and his age is starting to show.
Saudi Pro League clubs have reportedly expressed interest in signing Casemiro, but nothing concrete has been tabled so far. It’s a far cry from his successful stint at Real Madrid, where he won numerous titles and established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world.
Erik ten Hag has been keen to trim his squad, and Casemiro’s departure would free up some much-needed space. However, the Manchester United boss is also keen to keep the midfielder, citing his importance to the team and his ability to make a difference on the pitch.
"We have seen that Casemiro in his career is so successful," Ten Hag said. "In the previous season he was so important to achieve all the success we had there. So, when he is on this level, he is a very impactful player for us."
It remains to be seen whether Casemiro will be able to find a new home before the transfer deadline. One thing’s for sure, though – Manchester United’s pursuit of a new midfielder is far from over.
