The Strict Car Rule Kylian Mbappé Must Follow at Real Madrid
Kylian Mbappé, fresh from his move to Real Madrid this summer, has been handed a shiny new set of wheels as part of the club’s partnership deal with BMW. But, as you would expect, there’s a catch!
As part of the partnership deal, all players and coaches – including Mbappé – have to get behind the wheel of BMW’s eco-friendly electric models, including the sleek BMW i7 M70 which Mbappé has selected (just like Real’s President Florentino Pérez!).
The reasoning behind this seems to be a nod towards a more sustainable future, with both BMW Spain and Portugal’s executive president Manuel Terroba and Real Madrid pledging to reduce their carbon footprint.
"When we partner with the great Real Madrid, we have not just a shared commitment to football; we also share a commitment to our children’s future," Terroba commented.
But, as 90min has learned, there’s an unofficial rule in place to enforce compliance – players must make daily eco-friendly journeys to training (of course, with their gleaming new BMWs in tow! Talk about a win-win situation!) Not only does this contribute to Real’s sustainability efforts, but it’s also setting a great example for young Real Madrid fans to follow!
Did you know that Bayern Munich also have an incredibly long-standing partnership with Audi – similarly, their players have to adopt these eco-friendly habits too, à la Harry Kane (oh, the things football’s taught us!).
Need any more convincing? Just have a chat with the players themselves; ask them about their electric dream and the thrill of zipping past the Bernabéu Stadium doors in their BMWs! But, let’s get down to business – this is no one-dimensional sponsorship deal, no!
