Real Madrid ‘line up’ shock target after missing out on Leny Yoro to Man Utd

Real Madrid’s Transfer Plans Revealed: Two Surprise Targets in Sights After Leny Yoro Snub

After missing out on Leny Yoro to Manchester United, Real Madrid are reportedly looking to bolster their defence with two surprise transfer targets. According to reports, the Spanish giants have held internal talks with former Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte, who is currently playing for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Laporte, 29, was a key player for Spain at Euro 2024, and his experience and quality could be a significant boost to Real’s backline. However, a deal is said to be "complicated" due to his current contract situation.

In addition to Laporte, Real are also believed to be exploring the possibility of signing Mats Hummels, who is out of contract after leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of the 2023/24 season. The 35-year-old was thought to be on the verge of joining Serie A side Bologna, but Real’s interest has prompted him to take a step back and analyse the situation.

Hummels’ experience and leadership qualities could be invaluable to Real, who have lost Nacho Fernandez to Saudi and are short on centre-back options with David Alaba injured. The former Bayern Munich man has played for some of the biggest clubs in Europe, and his signing would be a major coup for Real.

Real have been linked with several centre-backs in recent weeks, but these two targets would be significant additions to their squad. With Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao, and Jesus Vallejo their only current centre-back options, the need for reinforcements is clear.

Will Real Madrid be able to lure Laporte and Hummels to the Bernabeu? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain – the Spanish giants will stop at nothing to strengthen their squad.
