Manchester United Splashing the Cash: Agree Personal Terms with Another Signing Hours After Confirming Leny Yoro
It’s been a whirlwind few hours for Manchester United fans, with the club announcing the signing of French defender Leny Yoro from Lille just hours before agreeing personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The Red Devils are clearly on a mission to make some big moves in the transfer market ahead of the 2024-25 season.
The 18-year-old Yoro was announced as a Manchester United player on Thursday night, with the club signing him for a reported fee of £52.18 million. The young defender expressed his excitement at joining the club, stating, "Signing for a club with the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an incredible honour."
However, it’s not just Yoro who’s joining the Old Trafford ranks. According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Ugarte, who is keen on making the move despite PSG’s reluctance to let him go. Romano tweeted, "Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Manuel Ugarte. Contract terms discussed, player keen on moving to United even without Champions League football."
This is the second big signing for Manchester United in as many days, following the arrival of Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna. The 20-year-old Zirkzee cost the club a reported £36 million and will be looking to make an impact in his new role.
Despite these big-money signings, Manchester United got off to a shaky start in their pre-season campaign, losing 1-0 to Norwegian outfit Rosenborg on Monday evening. They’ll be looking to bounce back with a win against Scottish side Rangers on Saturday.
