Messi leads renewed Argentina against Uruguay, Brazil in World Cup qualifiers

Buenos Aires: Argentina coach Lionel Skaloni has selected a preliminary list of 33 players led by Lionel Messi for South American qualifying matches against Uruguay and Brazil.

A revived squad has one of the bright young talents, a striker Claudio Achewarri, who has joined Manchester City after playing in the South American Under -20 Championship.

Other players who are not yet 21 – Nicholas Paz, Benjamin Domingues and Santiago Castro – were included in the squad declared on Sunday.

Argentina leads standing with 25 points after 12 matches. Uruguay has 20 and will host Messi’s team at the Centenaio Stadium in Montevidio on 21 March. Four days later, Brazil will play Brazil at the monumental stadium of World Cup winning Buenos Aires.
