With this win, Inter Miami sets a new record with 74 points, outdoing the previous mark set by New England Revolution in 2021. However, it’s hard not to think that this season’s poor defense is a major concern for head coach Tata Martino. The team has conceded the first goal 17 times this season, but they’ve managed to come back nine times and draw four more. It’s no wonder Martino is still searching for a solid defensive duo.
The Eastern Conference playoffs are set, with Inter Miami taking the top spot, and the other playoff teams following: Montreal and DC United, Orlando City, Charlotte FC, Columbus Crew, FC Cincinnati, and NYCFC. The play-in match between DC United and Montreal will take place on Tuesday or Wednesday, with the true first round beginning on October 25th.
As we look to the Western Conference, the LA Galaxy must win or draw at Houston to secure the top playoff seed. If they lose, LAFC could steal the No. 1 spot with a multi-goal win over San Jose Earthquakes. The nine playoff teams are set, but seeding could change. Vancouver could sneak into the top seven by winning in Salt Lake.
