Preston North End star given huge ban by FA for BITING Blackburn player

Preston North End Star Milutin Osmajic Lands Huge Ban for Violent Conduct

Preston North End’s Montenegrin striker Milutin Osmajic has been slapped with an eight-match ban and a £15,000 fine by the Football Association (FA) for his appalling display of violent conduct during the Lancashire derby against Blackburn Rovers.

The incident occurred in the 87th minute, when Osmajic grabbed hold of Blackburn’s Owen Beck and appeared to bite him near the back of his neck. Beck was shown a straight red card for his part in the altercation, while Osmajic was booked for dissent. However, it wasn’t until the FA reviewed the footage that they charged Osmajic with violent conduct.

A Blow to Preston North End

The ban, which will keep Osmajic out of action until November 23, is a significant blow to Preston North End’s Championship campaign. The striker had been in fine form, scoring twice in their 3-0 win over Watford on Wednesday. His absence will be keenly felt, particularly in the upcoming Lancashire derby against Burnley on Saturday.

Internal Sanction

In a statement, Preston North End director Peter Ridsdale confirmed that the club had sanctioned Osmajic internally, saying, "We’ve already indicated to the player what we’re doing. I want to keep that obviously in-house, but you can be assured that that’s not something that we condone as a football club and we’ve taken appropriate action."

A Dark Day for Football

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the darker side of football. As a sport, we pride ourselves on our values of respect, sportsmanship, and fair play. But when players resort to violent conduct, it undermines the very fabric of the game.
