In a scathing post-match analysis on Sky Sports, Neville questioned whether the United players still trusted Ten Hag and his tactics. "Are the players not buying into what Erik ten Hag is telling them to do? Or do they not believe in it?" he asked.
Neville pointed out that former midfielder Christian Eriksen, now at FC Twente, had recently complained that his teammates were lacking in motivation and hunger, which the pundit saw as a worrying sign. "Eriksen is a player who is highly respected by his colleagues and the manager, and for him to question the attitude of his teammates is significant," Neville said.
The Manchester United legend also drew comparisons to past instances where players have lost their way during a manager’s tenure, citing instances under Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes. "When Manchester United have been in this position before, the players have sometimes felt the pressure and strained, looking drained and lacking in belief," he explained.

As for Ten Hag, Neville didn’t hold back. "The manager has to take responsibility for this performance," he said. "It’s his job to motivate the players and get the best out of them, and right now, that’s not happening."
