Mbappe Told to Stay Away from Real Madrid’s Derby Clash with Atletico Madrid
Kylian Mbappe has been advised to steer clear of Real Madrid’s upcoming La Liga derby clash with Atletico Madrid due to concerns over his safety. The French superstar, who has been sidelined with a thigh injury, was initially set to attend the match at the Wanda Metropolitano, but club officials have denied his request.
Mbappe has been a key player for Real Madrid since joining from PSG in the summer, netting seven goals in just nine games. However, the 23-year-old is still recovering from the injury he sustained during the midweek victory over Alaves.
The decision to keep Mbappe away from the match is largely due to the hostile environment that often accompanies derbies between the two Madrid-based teams. In recent years, trouble has arisen between the two sets of supporters, and the club has taken precautions to ensure the safety of its players.
Mbappe is not the only star player set to miss the clash, with a number of other Real Madrid players currently sidelined. Dani Ceballos, Brahim Diaz, and David Alaba are all out injured, while Eduardo Camavinga is a doubt.
Despite the absence of some key players, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is optimistic about his team’s chances. "All derbies are special, but in their own way," he said. "In this regard, the Madrid derby resembles a passionate Roman derby more than a less intense Milanese one. The Metropolitano is a very challenging stadium, but last year’s derby defeat was beneficial – it pushed us to work on improving our defence."
Ancelotti added that Real Madrid still need to improve and avoid the mistakes they made in last year’s derby defeat. "Every game has its own story," he said.
Real Madrid beat Alavas in their last La Liga outing, with Lucas Vaquez, Mbappe, and Rodrygo all finding the net in a narrow victory at the Santiago Bernabeu.
