Manchester United’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford turned into a nightmare for the Red Devils, and fans aren’t holding back on social media. Despite taking an early lead, United were stunned by Spurs, and things only got worse for them in the first half.

Captain Bruno Fernandes was sent off after committing a foul on James Maddison, leaving United down a man and struggling to create chances. One player in particular, Joshua Zirkzee, drew a lot of criticism for his lackluster performance. The striker missed United’s best chance of the first half, a golden opportunity to equalize and give his team a much-needed boost.

Fans were furious with Zirkzee’s display, and the criticisms poured in on social media. "Might be the worst 30 min of football I’ve ever watched this. Has Zirkzee won a competition to play for us?" one fan tweeted. Another added, "Zirkzee is really slow. Killed the counter-attacking Manchester United philosophy. Fails to convert one-on-one situation. Not a finisher."

Another pointed out the physical difference between Zirkzee and fellow striker Erling Haaland, saying, "Zirkzee is 1.93m, in comparison to Haaland who is 1.94m but Zirkzee is always stretching for the ball, never seems to be in control of his shot, bizarre." Another fan agreed, stating, "Zirkzee is ALWAYS stretching man, striker with zero f***ing box instinct."

Zirkzee’s struggles in front of goal have been a concern for United fans, and this display only added fuel to the fire. Will Erik ten Hag be able to get his team back on track and find a way to overcome their current struggles? Only time will tell.
