Messi Makes History with Lightning-Fast 15th Goal and Assist in Inter Miami Win
It’s been a whirlwind week for Lionel Messi fans, and the Argentine sensation just added another chapter to his incredible story. Returning to action for Inter Miami, Messi made a huge impact, scoring a brilliant brace and providing an assist as his team took down Philadelphia Union 3-1.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner’s return was much anticipated, and he didn’t disappoint. With an assist for Luis Suarez’s goal, Messi became the fastest player in MLS history to reach 15 goals and 15 assists, achieving the feat in just 19 matches.
Martino’s men are riding high, currently sitting top of the MLS standings with 62 points, 10 ahead of second-placed FC Cincinnati. It’s been a remarkable campaign, with Messi’s teammates also playing a crucial role in their success.
"Messi and Suarez both played the entire game because they were good to finish the game," said Manager Gerardo Martino. "The reality is that it’s very difficult to remove players who are so differential because they appear and resolve at any time."
It’s clear that Inter Miami are a force to be reckoned with, and with Messi leading the charge, they’re confident they can achieve even greater heights. "We have already achieved the playoffs," said Martino. "Now we have to think about the achievements that can occur in the short term. And the risks, I’m not saying excessively, but we are going to take the risks."
Next up for Inter Miami is a clash with Atlanta United on September 18. Will they be able to maintain their momentum? Stay tuned to find out!
