Cristiano Ronaldo Says Erik Ten Hag’s Attitude Too Negative For Manchester United | Football News

Manchester United Need a Major Overhaul, Says Cristiano Ronaldo: “Rebuild from the Bottom”

Cristiano Ronaldo has given his analysis on Manchester United’s struggling season, stating that his former club needs a huge overhaul to get back on track. The Portuguese icon, who now plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, believes that Ten Hag’s negative attitude may be holding the team back from achieving their full potential.

Ronaldo urged the Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, not to rule out winning trophies in the short term and to target the Premier League title. The 5-time Ballon d’Or winner believes that, despite the club’s setbacks, they still have everything it takes to compete and win major honors.

But, Ronaldo also thinks the club needs to rebuild, starting from the bottom and changing their structure, coaching staff, and infrastructure, to become a competitive side once again. He noted that the owners, new billionaire Jim Ratcliffe and his team, have brought in some changes, indicating a willingness to shake up the status quo.

“To rebuild, you have to change,” Ronaldo said candidly. “You start to change again, and that’s why they’ll win. They’ll rebuild step by step, and [it] will be normal.”

Ronaldo criticized Ten Hag’s comments during the summer, saying his manager should not write himself off from winning the Champions League and Premier League early on. “You must try,” Ronaldo emphasized, “because you can try. You have to win, you have to challenge.”

The 39-year-old also reflected on his last stint at Old Trafford and the controversy surrounding his departures. He acknowledged disagreements with Ten Hag and management, but still maintained fondness for the club he spent six seasons with at the start of his professional journey.

“I love that club. I’m not one of those guys who got forgotten the past,” a nostalgic Ronaldo said.
