Wrexham on the Verge of Signing Manchester City Starlet Josh Adam
Wrexham are reportedly closing in on the signing of former Manchester City midfielder Josh Adam, according to reports. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has been on trial with the League One outfit and is expected to pen a two-year deal.
Adam, who began his career at Celtic before moving to Manchester City, has been released by the Premier League champions this summer. The Welsh side are believed to have beaten off competition from Lille and Club Brugge to secure his signature.
The news comes as a boost to Wrexham, who have made a blistering start to the season. They have won four of their opening five league games, scoring 11 goals in the process. The signing of Adam could be the perfect addition to Parkinson’s squad, providing some much-needed creativity and attacking flair.
Speaking after Wrexham’s 3-0 victory over Shrewsbury, manager Phil Parkinson referenced Adam, calling him a "real talent". "At the moment we will roll with what we have got," he said. "We have got some good players who haven’t figured much yet, so we don’t want to bring someone in for the sake of it. We have had young Josh Adam in from Man City on trial. He is a player we would like to keep because he has got real talent."
The attacking midfielder has impressed in his youth career, scoring 18 goals and registering 12 assists in 99 games across the various youth levels for Manchester City.
If the deal is completed, Adam could be in contention to make his debut for Wrexham against Birmingham City on September 16.
