Cristiano Ronaldo’s January Transfer Masterplan: Manchester City Star in His Sights

Cristiano Ronaldo is known for his cunning tactics on and off the pitch, and it seems he’s got another trick up his sleeve. According to reports, the 39-year-old is pushing Al Nassr to sign Mateo Kovacic from Manchester City in the January transfer window.
Kovacic, 29, has been a vital cog in Manchester City’s midfield since his move from Chelsea in June 2023. The Croatian international has made 49 appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals. But it seems Ronaldo believes the midfielder’s skills would be a perfect fit for his Saudi Pro League side.
Al Nassr were reportedly prepared to offer Kovacic a whopping $1 million-per-week contract on deadline day, making it one of the most expensive transfers in Saudi football history. However, the deal fell through due to the club’s inability to offload Sadio Mane, which would have created an international space within their squad.
But don’t count Al Nassr out just yet. Sources close to the club claim they will revisit their offer for Kovacic in the January transfer window, and this time, they’re willing to go all out to secure his signature.
Ronaldo’s involvement in the deal is said to be instrumental, with the Portuguese superstar viewing Kovacic as a potentially "transformative addition" to his team. And with Al Nassr willing to offer a sizeable fee and a massive salary, it’s no wonder Kovacic is reportedly considering a move to the Middle East.
So, what does this mean for Manchester City? Losing Kovacic would be a significant blow to Pep Guardiola’s midfield, but it could also be an opportunity for the club to strengthen their squad in other areas.
In the meantime, fans of both Al Nassr and Manchester City will be eagerly awaiting the January transfer window to see if Kovacic makes the switch to the Saudi Pro League.
