Cesc Fabregas believes Lee Carsley has left ‘complete’ England star out of his first squad

Fabregas Believes Maddison is a "Complete" Player, England Boss Leaves Him Out

Lee Carsley’s first squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures has sparked debate, with some notable omissions. One player who’s caught the eye of many is James Maddison, with former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas hailing him as a "complete" player.

Speaking on the BBC’s Planet Premier League podcast, Fabregas praised Maddison’s skills, saying: "Straight away you could feel he’s got the confidence. He’s got the personality to demand the ball, to make things happen and to create situations. He’s good at dribbling, he is good at assisting and he can score goals. So he’s a really complete player in my opinion."

Fabregas added: "He has a good understanding with Son and the strikers and for me, he’s a fantastic player to have. And as a coach, I’m sure that you need to adapt to the strengths of your players and the better quality they have, the easier it is. And definitely, he is one of them you would always want in your team."

However, England boss Lee Carsley has surprisingly left Maddison out of his squad, along with other stars like Kyle Walker, Marcus Rashford, and James Maddison. When asked about his decision, Carsley said: "Rash and Maddison? There are players ahead of them. They are on the radar and will be considered in the future."

Carsley’s selection has raised eyebrows, with many wondering why he’s opted for Angel Gomes, a former Manchester United youngster who now plays for French Ligue 1 side Lille, over more experienced players like Maddison.

Carsley explained his decision, saying: "Angel’s very technical, controls the game with his skill and technique. Very determined, excellent attitude. Technically and tactically excellent. I think he’s a player that people are going to really be excited to see. It’s important to also recognise how well (England) done in the past. We’ve come so close (to winning a trophy) but I thought it was important to put some fresh faces in the squad."

The decision to leave out Maddison and others has sparked debate among fans, with many feeling that the squad is lacking in experience and quality. However, Carsley’s move to bring in fresh faces could be a bold attempt to shake things up and bring new energy to the team.
