Ronaldo’s Champions League Comeback: ‘You Never Know What the Future Brings’
The question on everyone’s mind – will Cristiano Ronaldo make a comeback to the Champions League? We got a glimpse into the former Real Madrid and Manchester United superstar’s thoughts on Thursday as he helped with this season’s draw.
Ronaldo, now playing for Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr, was honored for being the all-time top scorer in Champions League history with 140 goals. Flanked by Gianluigi Buffon, the Italian great, Ronaldo didn’t rule out a potential return to the competition that he called "the highest in football."
"It’s our motivation," Ronaldo said about the Champions League. "I play Asian Champions League, don’t forget that." A subtle hint that he might one day make a return, perhaps after his current contract in Saudi Arabia expires.
The five-time Champions League winner with United and Madrid, lifted the trophy on four occasions with the Spanish giants. His impressive record speaks for itself, and it’s hard to imagine him staying away from the competition for too long.
"For me, it’s a pleasure to be here. Thank you for this amazing award, it means a lot to me," Ronaldo added.
The question now is – when will we see CR7 back on the Champions League stage?
