Jermaine Jenas admits sending ‘inappropriate messages’ as he breaks silence on BBC sacking

Jermaine Jenas Opens Up About BBC Exit: "I’m Ashamed and Deeply Sorry"

Jermaine Jenas, the former Tottenham midfielder, has released a lengthy statement addressing the allegations of inappropriate behavior that led to his termination from the BBC. In the statement, Jenas apologizes for his actions and takes full responsibility for his mistakes.

The 41-year-old presenter and pundit was let go by the BBC due to alleged issues relating to workplace behavior. Jenas had been hosting the popular show "The One Show" and appeared as a pundit on "Match of the Day." He had also hosted "Drive" on talkSPORT alongside Darren Bent.

In the statement, Jenas confirms that he sent inappropriate messages to two BBC colleagues, but denies sending any sexual pictures or videos. He admits that he has a problem and needs help, and is currently seeking therapy to address his issues.

"I owe everyone an apology – especially the women with whom I was messaging. I am so, so sorry," Jenas said. "I am sorry for what I have put them through. I think it would be fair to say I have a problem. I know I self-sabotage and have a self-destructive streak when it comes to my relationships, especially, and I know I need help. And I am getting help."

Jenas also revealed details of the video call with the BBC that ended with the termination of his contract. He described the situation as "grim" and admitted that he was in shock at the time.

"I think I was in shock at the time, there was a lot to process," Jenas said. "But I’m the married one, I’m at fault, and I was sort of playing this blame game in my head. Some people have suggested I’m the scapegoat here. But I have only myself to blame – I have let everyone around me down and I have disappointed a lot of people."

Jenas concluded his statement by apologizing to everyone he has hurt through his actions. "I just want to apologise to everyone I have hurt through my actions. I am sorry."

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Jenas, who is still employed by TNT Sports, where he works on their football and Formula E coverage. TalkSPORT has confirmed that there are no plans for Jenas to broadcast as a presenter on their station in the immediate future.
