Jamie Carragher makes bold prediction about ‘boyhood Man Utd fan’ Cole Palmer and says it could happen in 2025

Carragher’s Shock Prediction: Could Cole Palmer Be Bound for Manchester United?

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has made a startling claim about Cole Palmer’s future, suggesting that the 22-year-old could make a move to Manchester United if Chelsea fail to deliver in the coming months.

Palmer, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer for £40 million, was one of the standout performers in the Premier League last season. His impressive form earned him the PFA Young Player of the Year award, presented to him in Manchester, a city he holds dear.

When asked about his ambitions, Palmer revealed that his priority is to win trophies with Chelsea, before focusing on individual accolades. However, if the Blues’ fortunes take a turn for the worse, Carragher believes that United, his boyhood club, might be a viable option.

Speaking on his podcast, The Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet, Carragher sparked a debate by saying: "If Chelsea have another poor season, we were talking earlier about Manchester United having a real problem on that right wing. He [Palmer] is a big Man United fan isn’t he? Would that not be something that United should visit maybe in 12 months if it doesn’t go well?"

Palmer has been open about his admiration for Manchester United, confessing to being a lifelong fan during an interview with TNT Sports last season. He also revealed that he looked up to Wayne Rooney, the all-time top goalscorer for United, as his childhood hero.

While the likelihood of Palmer making a switch to Old Trafford remains uncertain, Carragher’s prediction has added fuel to the fire. If Chelsea continue to struggle, could Palmer be the one to solve United’s right-wing problem?
