Man Utd pair convince Erik ten Hag to abandon plans of new signing in problem position

Manchester United’s Transfer Plans Take a Sharp Turn

Manchester United’s pursuit of a new left-back has finally come to an end, as they’re no longer actively targeting Ferdi Kadioglu from Fenerbahce, a report from The Athletic has revealed. The Red Devils made a strong start to the summer transfer window, signing Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui, but it appears that a left-back wasn’t part of their plans after all.

With Luke Shaw recovering well from his injuries, Erik ten Hag seems confident with his options at left-back, with both Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot able to fill in. The emergence of talented young full-back Harry Amass could also be a factor in their decision-making process. Amass, who has impressed in pre-season and has trained with the first-team squad on numerous occasions, is seen as a long-term solution for the position.

It’s worth noting that United were interested in bringing in a new left-back initially, but their pursuit of Sander Berge from Burnley and Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain has been met with skepticism. Berge’s valuation at £30 million is seen as a hurdle, while PSG’s asking price for Ugarte is reportedly too high. This could be a sign that the Old Trafford club is willing to trust in their current options rather than paying over the odds for a new arrival.

The decision to cancel their left-back pursuit might raise eyebrows, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. United’s early business has been impressive, and sometimes it’s better to focus on the most pressing areas of the team. After all, the Red Devils are known for their ability to develop young talent, and Harry Amass could be the surprise package of the season.
