Where Ivan Toney could rank in Saudi Pro League’s highest-paid players if staggering wage demands are met

Ivan Toney’s Saudi Dream: Can He Crack the Top 10 Earners in the Saudi Pro League?

In a shocking turn of events, Ivan Toney’s future at Brentford is hanging in the balance, with rumors swirling that the talented striker could be on his way to Saudi Arabia. With a potential salary of over €20 million (£17 million) on the table, Toney could be in line to join the top 10 earners in the Saudi Pro League, a list currently headed by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.

As reported by GiveMeSport correspondent Ben Jacobs, Toney’s current club, Brentford, has dropped their transfer valuation for the striker to £50 million, making him a hot commodity in the transfer market. Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli is rumored to be interested in acquiring Toney’s services, and with the promise of a lucrative contract, it’s no surprise that the 27-year-old is considering a move to the Middle East.

If Toney does make the switch, he’ll be joining a team that’s already stacked with talent, including the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino, Edouard Mendy, Franck Kessie, and Gabri Veiga. With his current earning power of £21 million a year (£403,000 a week), Toney would be well-positioned to join the top 10 earners in the Saudi Pro League, currently headed by Aymeric Laporte, who rakes in around £21.4 million a year.

The numbers are impressive, to say the least. Unsurprisingly, the top three earners in the Saudi Pro League are the usual suspects – Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, and Karim Benzema – with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner pulling in a staggering £171.1 million a year.

For Brentford fans, the prospect of losing Toney is a tough pill to swallow. Speaking on Sunday, manager Thomas Frank said, "Of course, Ivan is a top player, he has been fantastic for us for four years, but we showed last season we can cope without him." It remains to be seen whether Toney will indeed make the move, but one thing is certain – the Saudi Pro League is about to get a whole lot more interesting.
