Who will take just five minutes in the new MLS season to hit the historic league milestone, but the great man, Lionel Messi?
Messi and his Miami colleagues did not waste any time against NYCFC to get their name on their season’s opener.
In the initial stages, after exiting the playoffs, Herons came in search of wrong 2024 in the season.
Within five minutes, Messi took out the Youngster Toms Evils to score the opener with a pinpoint cross, and made MLS history in the process.
Argentina became the fastest player to reach 40 career target contributions (21 goals) in League League history, which fulfilled that achievement in only 26 matches.
Unfortunately for Miami, however, Evils were sent to deal with a grain in the first half, and the NYCFC level the score from the resulting free-kick.
